The University of Helsinki (UH), established in 1640, is Finland’s oldest and largest institution of academic education, located in the capital city. The office ensures that the University of Helsinki’s leadership, researchers, and experts play an active role in shaping EU policymaking by participating in international networks, working groups, conferences, and consultations. Additionally, the university contributes valuable insights to the EU’s political agenda and funding programs through position papers and strategic feedback.
As an active member of leading international networks like LERU, EASSH, ICA, and the UNA Europa alliance, the University of Helsinki combines advocacy with cutting-edge research and education collaboration.
The University of Helsinki leads Finnish universities in securing funding from the EU’s R&I Framework Programme. Its researchers have been awarded over 120 ERC grants, accounting for nearly half of all ERC funding received by Finland.
