Working Groups

UnILiON has established a number of working groups, allowing for deeper discussion among members of the various topics that fall within the remit of the network. Currently, the following working groups have been set up.

To be added to the mailing list of a working group, UnILiON members can contact the chairs of the respective working groups.

 


Horizon Europe & Future policy

Objectives:

  • Monitor the development and implementation of the new EU framework programme for research and innovation 2021-2027 – Horizon Europe – and to exchange experiences on how best to engage with it as universities.
  • Monitor the development of related policy topics, for example the European Research Area and the Future Universities in Europe.

Excellence

Objectives:

  • Follow the development of work programmes for ERC, MSCA, and RI.
  • Share intelligence and promote effective participation in MSCA and ERC.
  • Organise an info session on RI and potentially develop/share mapping of EU RI and how these RIs can be used in relation to other parts of Horizon Europe
  • Engage with the Commission through stakeholder events and own events to voice concerns and support co-creation of the funding lines in pillar I.

Innovation

Objective:

  • Provide a forum for UnILiON universities to exchange and discuss best practice in innovation, proactively identify opportunities for cooperation (including projects) and become recognised as a key channel through which policymakers and key stakeholders can engage with UnILiON on these issues.

International cooperation

Objectives:

  • Share intelligence on the development of international cooperation between universities in Europe and other parts of the world
  • Monitor the international dimension of research, innovation and education policy and funding opportunities for universities
  • Exchange on how member universities approach organisational international issues from a logistical point of view
  • Keep members informed about each other’s continued strategic positioning activities for international activities
  • Invite speakers from the EU institutions, embassy attachés and other relevant stakeholders for updates and discussions
  • Consider holding an event around a priority issue during the year, separately or alongside another UnILiON activity
  • Focus activities on the identified priority topics of EU-Africa, EU-UK, Open to the World and EU-Japan relations
